My Beat Story
My beat is Avila Golf team. I choose it because I started to paly golf when I was 11 years old now I am 24 years so I have played 13 years. And I am living with my friends who paly golf at Avila golf team. There are seven golf players at Avila golf team. I am going to sequentially introduce them, Logan Burks, Tommy Edwards, Jackson Gurley, Gunnar Kodas, Taylor Livigston, John Schwarzel and, Nic Smith. I interviewed three of them who are Gunnar, John and, Nic. I asked all of them about “When did you start playing golf?” and, “Why did you start playing golf?”
First of all, I interviewed Gunnar Kodas. He is the caption of the men’s golf team.
“When I interviewed Gunnar Kodas.”
He started playing golf when he was three years old. His dad gave him golf club and he just likes playing golf that is why he plays golf.
Next, I interviewed Nic Smith. He started playing golf when he was four years old and golf is family sports for him that is why he still plays golf. He was also really young when he started play golf.
“When I interviewed Nic Smith.”
Last person is John Schwarzel. I interviewed him and I asked him about their coach Chad Habluetzel. John said “Coach Habluetzel has played on the PGA Tour, written three golf-related teaching books, and currently works full-time as Avila's Men & Women's Golf coach. Chad Habluetzel is a very respectful, straightforward person who focuses on each individual separately, personalizing each player's practice day to their own needs.”
They started playing when they were really young so that is why they are good at playing golf.

What Do You Think About 9/11?

Hi this is Atsushi Hida. I interviewed two people who are my friends about “What do you think about 9/11?” 9/11 was a generic name of four terrorisms that use the airplane in the frequent and simultaneous occurrence in the United States on September 11, 2001. 3000 people died by this terrorism.
“The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The photo is from http://www.crossfit760.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/9.11-b.jpg”
One of them is John Schwarzel and we are friends and roommates. I interviewed him and he said, “Hi, my name is John Schwarzel. My opinion on 9/11 is that it was a complete act of terror and its sole purpose was to take innocent American lives. These terrorists sought to make the United States look weak and powerless compared to other countries.”
“I interviewed John Schwarzel.”
After this I interviewed Gunnar Kodas. He is also my friend and my roommate. He said, “Hi I’m Gunnar Kodas, a senior at Avila University. And 9/11 was a terrible day for everyone. I can still remember sitting in my 2nd grade classroom and watching the teacher wheel in the TV so we all could see the tragedy unfold. It was just a terrible day.”
“I interviewed Gunnar Kodas.”
I totally agree with their opinions, it was a terrible day. I was in Japan when this terrorism occurred. I was 10 years old and I was watching TV in the living room with my family. I clearly remember this happen. I thought, "the third World War will start because of this terrorism." at this time. We sincerely wish such miserable terrorism not to be going to occur in the future.

Student Organization Fair
Today I went to Student Organization Fair with my Japanese friend. There were so many students over there. This is my third year at Avila, so I have seen this couple times but I have not done anything. First of all, there were free food and drink such as hamburger, vegetables, chips, and lemonade. We were getting line and grabbed some food and drink. The hamburger and lemonade are so good.
”They are getting food and drink”
After we ate lunch we walked around and saw my friends. They told me “You can get own license plate.” I said “Really? Where can we get it?” They answered me “There is in front of Ridgway.” We went there. There is a long line with people who wants to get the license plate. I think there were over 30 people. My Japanese friend has the license plate from last year so she does not want to get it because, there was a long line and it was hot outside but I do not have it so I really want to get it. She said to me “I know you want to get it we can wait.” So we were getting the line.
“There are many people”
They have another activity stuff such as massage, photo booth, and balloon maker. We waited about 20 minutes and finally we got front row. The man asked me “What do you want to put?” I answered him “I want to put Sushi.” He just smiled. He printed out a paper and gave it to another worker. She put it on hot stuff and covered a plate and wait couple minutes. Finally, I got a special license plate.

MTV Video Music Awards

I watched MTV Video Music Awards and felt that this TV show is considered wonderfully because everywhere of the TV show contained jokes, and audience were always enjoying. The first performance was Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj. They sang couple songs and their costume were so gorgeous and so cool. Miley Cyrus was overall host of the TV show with crazy and fancy costume. She changed costumes so many times and she surprised the audience when she changed her costume every time. I was surprised that she said “Marijuana” when she took a selfie for Instagram.
“When Miley Cyrus took a selfie.”
I got the most surprise thing of the TV show that Nicki Minaj said “back to this b—- who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” on live TV. Nicki Minaj’s face looked serious.

“When she called Miley the B word on live TV.”
Then Taylor Swift presented the video vanguard award to Kanye West. Kanye West wore the T-shirts, long pants, and Yeezy Boost 350. He was so cool. I love him since when I was a high school student. When he speech about the video vanguard award he said “I'm believing myself.” to the audience.
“When Kanye West said I'm believing myself.”
I was interested in the phrase because I think that Kanye West is believing himself that is why he is one of the most famous person in the world. Almost end of the TV show, Taylor Swift won video of the year. She looked surprised when they called her name. She hugged her friends and went to the stage and got a trophy. Through this TV show, I thought it was a really good TV show.

My First Day of Class

jjjot want to late rhe friends. My first day of class is Theatre Appreciation on August 27th at 10:30am. I was really nervous from last night, because my English is not good and sometimes they do not understand me. I'm afraid to speak English. I woke up at 6am and went restroom twice because I was nervous.

“My house’s bathroom”
Then I took a shower and I was getting ready. I made a omelet for breakfast and ate it. I went to Avila by car. I live a house with my friends. I got Avila earlier because I do not want to late the first class.

“I go school by this car.”
The first class room is BOR 424. I went there and looked around to find a seat that I can sit. I found a seat on the corner next to a guy. He put his stuff on the chair so I asked him “Hey dude can I sit there?” He said “Yes sure you can sit here.” There were about 20 people in the class but I don’t know anybody. It made me more nervous. The teacher started to read the course schedule.

“The class’s syllabus.”
The teacher began to take roll call. She called my name and asked me “Atsushi Hida? Is my pronunciation correct?” I said “Yes you are right and you can call me Sushi.” She asked me “Like food?” I said “Yeah like Japanese sushi.” So the classmates laughed. I was relieved because everyone laughed at it. She called all of students and started to explain the class such as schedule, course objectives, course outcome, attendance, texts, assignments, papers, and grad. I was taking note on my syllabus. She did not give us any homework or assignment. Then the class was over and we left.
